Sabre Reins

Reins play a vital part in the communication between the rider’s hands and the horse’s mouth for maintaining direction and the pace of forward movement.

Reins should be soft to hold and completely non-slip, ideally, even in wet or lathery conditions.

For your safety, the leather parts of your reins always need to be kept clean, soft and supple, especially where the rein ends come into contact with the bit rings.

Initial Oiling:   ALL the leather parts of these items MUST be treated before use to condition the leather & protect the water based dyes used in the tanning process. Apply 2 - 3 light coats of blended neatsfoot oil sparingly with a brush on a ratio of 2 coats to the flesh (underside) of the leather to 1 coat on the topside of the leather, working into any buckle holes.
